How to choose a blank metal sign
Gauge. Our aluminum sign blanks are .040 inch thick, the weight sign shops use for parking, street and property signs; scroll-bracket blanks step up to .080 inch, and license plate blanks come in .025 and .040 inch. Aluminum will not rust.
Finish. Blanks are prefinished with a wax-free baked enamel, so vinyl lettering and printed graphics go straight on. Most sizes ship with one side masked; street and plate blanks are coated on both sides.
Sizes and colors. Stock sizes run 7 x 10, 9 x 12, 12 x 12, 12 x 18, 18 x 24 and 24 x 36 inches, plus 6 x 24 street sign blanks in five colors and 18 x 24 panels in eight. Corners are rounded on most sizes, square on the street blanks.
Mounting. Real estate frames take an 18 x 24 panel up to 5 mm thick. Scroll brackets in 18 to 48 inch widths hang a blank from a post or wall; the matching .080 aluminum blanks are listed alongside.

What thickness are your aluminum sign blanks?
.040 inch for the standard sign panels, which is the gauge used for parking, street and property signs. Scroll-bracket blanks are .080 inch. License plate blanks are .025 or .040 inch. Every product page lists its gauge.
Can I apply vinyl straight to a blank metal sign?
Yes. The blanks are prefinished with a wax-free baked enamel, so cut vinyl, printed vinyl and reflective sheeting apply directly. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol first and use a squeegee. Most sizes ship with a protective mask on one side; peel it before you apply.
What sizes do blank metal signs come in?

What colors are available?
White is stocked in every size. The 18 x 24 inch blank comes in eight colors including ivory, black, caution yellow, green, yellow, red and blue; the 6 x 24 street blank in black, white, blue, green and red; the 9 x 12 and 12 x 12 blanks in white, red, black and caution yellow.
Do the blanks have mounting holes?
License plate blanks come with pre-made screw slots. Standard sign panels are supplied without holes so you can drill for the frame, post or bracket you use; the frames and scroll brackets on this page are sized to the blanks.

Aluminum for permanent outdoor signs, street signs and anything that must not rust. Corrugated plastic for yard, real estate and event signs that are cheap and light. Magnetic sheeting for vehicle door signs that come off. All three are on this page.
