Steps for Setting Up Your LXi 26 Q Series Cutter Driver

1. Click File.
2. From the drop-down menu, select Install.
3. From the flyout menu, select Cutting Devices
4. Scroll down to Vinyl Express and uncheck other names of installed drivers in the list.
5. Click Next.
6. Select the original driver that matches your current Q Series. 

(If you’re not sure which is which, just convert the number at the end of your cutter name into centimeters. 54 inches equals roughly 130 centimeters, so the Q54 is the new Q130. For the Q30, select the Q-75 drivers. The Q42 connects to the Q100, and the Q64 is the updated Q160. )

Looking at the cutter models listed, you will also notice that LXI26 offers two driver options per cutter: one for GPGL and one for HPGL. These are the two command language options available in the Q Series control panel. Match the driver to the current setting on your vinyl cutter. 

Confirm Plotting Defaults

1. From the top toolbar, choose Cut Menu
2. From the dropdown menu, select Plotting Defaults
3. Ensure the new Q Series driver is displayed as the selected cutter

Changing the Command Language

1. Press the Pause/Menu button to enter the Q Series Menus.
2. Press the Up arrow key to enter the Interface menu.
3. Press 2 to enter the Command language menu.
4. Select HP-GL, GPGL, or AUTO, which will allow the cutter to respond to either driver setting. 

Update the Port Setting 

1. Click Setup.
2. Click Port Tab
3. Click the arrow under the port location
4. From the drop down menu, select the newly-listed USB driver
5. Choose VinylExpressQ54-3
6. Click Apply and OK to complete the port setting

Before you leave the Plotting Defaults window:

1. Choose the Tool Options button
2. Ensure the Cut Velocity, Acceleration, and Pressure are unchecked. (However, if it’s more convenient for you to set cutting parameters here, check the boxes and specify the desired settings.)
