Watch start-to-finish instructions on how to laminate your first job with the enduraLAM-150/enduraLAM3.
Use the time stamps (within the parenthesis) below to locate specific instructions within the video.

Supplies You Will Need to Start (00:11)

  • Laminating film
  • Cardboard roll
  • Masking tape
  • Double-sided tape
  • Job material you want laminated
  • Scrap material 24" to 36" long by width of laminating film

Additional Preparation (00:34)

  • Make sure that the Master Power (on the back of the machine) is turned off.
  • Rotate lifting crank to raise the upper pressure roller to maximum height.
  • Install a cardboard core onto the liner paper roll (top take up bar).

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Stand the roll of laminate vertically when inserting the film mandrel. (1:00)
    • Instinct may suggest laying the roll horizontal on a table. However, this may cause the roll to telescope out.
    • Standing the roll vertically is the best way to assure that it remains wound consistently tight.
  2. Determine if your roll is forward wound or reverse wound. (1:08)
    • Most rolls are forward wound, meaning the film is on the outside of the roll.
    • The paper backing will be exposed to the outside on reverse wound rolls.
    • The way the roll is wound will dictate how you should install the roll onto your laminator.
  3. Return Mandrel to the back of the machine. (1:32)
    • Facing the laminator from the back of the machine, insert the mandrel on the right side first.
    • The right collar bracket is spring loaded and needs to be compressed in order for the other end of the mandrel to fit into the left side of the machine.
    • In order for the bar to fit properly, align the socket at the end of the bar to fall around the small stationary jag found within the collar.
  4. Turn both collars to lock bar into place. (1:50)
  5. Apply Tape to cardboard roll. (1:55)
  6. Feed Material under tension bar. (2:20)
  7. Tack Backing to take up roll. (2:26)
    • Pulling extra slack will help with the tacking.
  8. Peel the laminating film from its paper backing. (2:35)
    • Pull the peeled film down until it reaches the front working table.
  9. Fold a 2” hem at the end of your laminating film. (2:48)
  10. Feed the laminating film under top roller/towards back toward the machine. (2:53)
    • From the back of the machine, pull the laminate so that it is flat and smooth against the pressure roller.
  11. Lay the laminating film over top of machine. (3:05)
  12. Add Scrap Media by aligning it with laminating film. (3:16)
    • It helps to fold the media’s corners upwards to avoid getting caught on the machine.
  13. Manually feed the scrap media through the machine. (3:25)
    • The media needs to be fed past front lip of the back frame.
  14. Lower the top roller. (3:30)
    • Turn the lifting crank counter clockwise to lower the roller.
    • Once the top roller touches the bottom roller (removing the light and gap between the two rollers), turn the crank two more revolutions for the needed laminating pressure.
  15. Drop the laminating film onto the material that has already been fed through the machine. (3:46)
  16. Cut off the excess film with a pair of scissors. (3:54)
  17. Turn on master power and controls. (4:05)
    • When turning on the master power, the control panel on the front of the machine should indicate that the motor is off.
    • Leave the directions set to neutral until ready to use it.
    • The speed should be set to zero at first.
  18. Use the controls to advance the scrap materiel through the machine. (4:16)
    • Turn on the motor.
    • Change the direction to forward.
    • Increase the speed slightly.
    • Be sure to stop with a couple of inches left of scrap to tack your job.
      • Stop by slowing speed, changing direction, or stopping the motor.
  19. Add guide rod to the top of media. (4:35)
    • The rod will simply rest on top to keep the material from getting bunched-up while feeding.
  20. Use masking tape to tack a job to the scrap media (4:46)
  21. Begin Laminating. (5:00)
    • Set the speed to 3 or 4 for your first job. Users may decide to run faster or slower after becoming familiar with the machine.
    • Switch the direction to forward.
    • This sequence should give a more consistent press than switching the direction before easing into our speed.
  22. Monitor Process on both sides of the laminator. (5:11)
  23. Stop the machine before running out of media. (5:42)
    • Users will want to leave the last 2 ft. of media on the machine in order to tack the next job.
    • This is something that needs to be considered when printing.

Shutting Down (6:00)

  • Turn off the main power at the end of each day's use. (6:08)
  • Raise the pressure roller to prevent warping. (6:15)
