Old roadside signs are good design studies.
I stumbled across a Flickr collection of old road signs by PopKulture that I thought you would enjoy, there are over 300 photos posted here. As a kid, I remember taking road trips with my parents in the late 50's and early 60's along Route 66. These signs were definitely a part of the memories and evoke a certain period and style. ( I also got the same feeling from watching Pixar Studios' "Cars".) Plus, as sign designers we can always learn by looking at the designs of others. Shapes, elements, and themes in some of these signs are timeless and eternal. I hope you enjoy the show.
