Some of our LXi Cloud users upgraded to the program when their previous version’s security hardware key (dongle) was misplaced or broken. They may have upgraded reluctantly, but they are now glad they did. Still, we have a number of users who are “hanging in there” with an older version. That means keeping up with the installation disc, dongle, and the password. So, it is especially frustrating to keep all of the right components intact and still get slammed with the error: “Cannot Find Security Key That Matches Password.” We feel your pain, and we are going to help you get through it.

Users are sometimes offended by some of our front-end troubleshooting. Nevertheless, we occasionally learn there may have been some oversight on the part of the user.
  • Start by verifying that the Serial # etched into the back of the key matches the User ID # associated with your password.Users with multiple licenses sometimes find that they are using the wrong User ID# for the particular key they are attempting to access (or vice versa).
  • Confirm that the USB Security key is securely plugged into a USB port on the computer.

  • Try the key in a different port.
  • If the error continues, uninstall and re-install the key with updated drivers downloaded from our website.

If the key lights up after installing drivers, but you still get the message that a hardware key is not found, then there is probably a security program on the computer blocking the LXi program from seeing the port that the key is plugged into. You will need to add an exception to your Windows Firewall.
  • Click on the START button, and go to Control Panel.
    • If you are looking at Control Panel in Classic View, you'll see Windows Firewall.
  • Double click on Windows Firewall & go to the Exceptions tab.
  • There should be an option to add an exception for the design software, the key or both.
If these steps do not correct the problem you may want to take a look at what else is on the computer. There may be any number of other security programs on the computer that could cause the problem also. For help with this, contact the computer's manufacturer or retailer.
