Why Is There Discontinued LXi Software?
In our contemporary world, today’s technology becomes outdated and eventually obsolete. Betamax was replaced by VHS, which was replaced by DVDs; then Blu-Ray, then streaming, etc. In the PC world, we've gone from Windows 98 to XP, 7, Vista, 8, 8.1, and now Windows 11! Along the path of progress, related devices and software must be updated, upgraded, or discarded.
Signmaking software is no exception. As the digital infrastructure gets upgraded, support for old software is no longer feasible. It's time to move on. Now's the time to update your old LXi software and keep your business moving forward. Every day, more and more users are enjoying the convenience and online features of Vinyl Express LXi 26.
Discontinued LXi Software
LXI &.5 & 8.5: End of Life; No more support
Due to a loss of manufacturer support for the soft key licenses issued during this era, LXi 8.5 is at an "end of life" phase. Soft key licenses (those that run without the use of a dongle or hard key) are failing due to unsupported operating systems for which they were designed. Support for LXI 8.5 ended over ten years ago. If yours is still running, it's been on life support until now. Once it stops running, Product Support cannot resuscitate it.
LXi 10, 10.5: End of Life; No more support
LXi 10 and LXI 10.5 licenses were introduced in 2010, and were compatible with Windows XP (3), Vista, and Windows 7. These operating systems are no longer supported by Microsoft, and the original licenses are no longer active on the SAi server. This means we are unable to continue to provide technical support for LXI 10 and 10.5 customers. Issues that render the software inoperable will have to be remedied with the purchase of a comparable new LXI 26 license.
LXI Cloud: End of Life, No more support
LXi Cloud was introduced in 2013 and is compatible with Windows XP (3), Vista, and Windows 7, & 8. These operating systems are no longer supported by Microsoft, and the software is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems like Windows 10 and 11. We are unable to continue to provide technical support for LXI Cloud. Issues that render the software inoperable will have to be remedied with the purchase of a comparable new LXI 26 license.
LXi 12 & LXi19: Supported, Not compatible with Windows 11
Windows 10 was introduced in 2015. LXi 12 was introduced at roughly the same time. LXi 12 is not compatible with Windows 11.
LXi19 was introduced in August of 2020 and was engineered to be fully compatible with Windows 10.
Windows 11 was introduced in 2022. To use LXi 12 or 19 on a new PC, you may have to upgrade to the latest LXi version. If you still have access to a Windows 10 machine, you can reinstall and continue using the software. Click here for instructions on re-installing LXi 12 & 19
LXI 22: Supported, Fully Windows 11 Compatible
LXi 22 was introduced in November, 2022 and was engineered to be fully compatible with Windows 11. LXi22 also includes a 32-bit device option in Production Manager that enables it to support older devices that would not otherwise be compatible with Windows 11's 64-bit operating system. LXI26: New Look, New Features, Free Trials
LXi 22 has been replaced with LXI26, which is new from the ground up and has new features and expanded capabilities. Both options are fully Windows 11 compatible. Both are fully supported by SIGNWarehouse Product Support. Customers familiar with older versions of LXi may find the new GUI* in LXI26 presents a learning curve.
Note: Older .VE files may not be compatible with LXI26. If you're not sure you're ready for the newest version of LXI software, take it for a test drive. You can use the Download links on the LXI26 Support Resources page to try before you buy.
And, if you need to upgrade to the new GUI, but would like a little help making the transition, ask about the training options available from the SIGNWarehouse Service Center.
